We are proud to announce the launch of our new programme which will see creatives from all disciplines invited into our London headquarters to create one off collections, and offering them a space and the freedom to dream and design.
By opening the doors to Harella House, self-portrait’s London studio and headquarters, the
brand is creating a design hub for artists to experiment and innovate. This initiative aims to
encourage best in class craftsmanship and design by providing self-portrait’s infrastructure, platforms, resources, teams, and distribution network to spotlight and promote external
creatives, offering them the freedom to dream and create.
The programme will evolve continuously, with new Residents, from across all creative
disciplines being invited to design unique products, experiences, and collections that reflect their
artistry, and complement self-portrait’s commitment to empowering artistic voices.
“My ambition for self-portrait has always been to create an inclusive brand, one that empowers
with every interaction, and one that focuses on community over competition. This ethos was the
starting point when conceiving our new Residency programme. To me, this represents the future
of genuine partnership, where creatives support and uplift each other rather than seeing each
other as rivals.” - Han Chong, Founder and Creative Director of self-portrait
The inaugural Residency by designer Christopher Kane showcases a collection of 30 looks. Designed out of self-portrait’s London studio at Harella House, Kane reinterpreted key elements from his SS07 debut collection, highlighting his signature subversive elegance through a striking blend of textures.
Drawing upon his creative community, Kane’s longtime supporter Carine Roitfeld teases the campaign, photographed at her home in Paris by Larissa Hofmann, ahead of the collection launch. The entire offering is due to be unveiled via livestream, as we open the doors into a campaign shoot happening in real-time.
The limited-edition collection can be shopped online and in-store at the same time, and will also be available across a global network of retailers.
“The fashion industry can often be isolating for designers, with brands competing for space and attention. I have been thinking a lot about ways to try to evolve this by looking at modern ways to approach collaboration."
"Having spent the last ten years building our brand and honing our team’s skills, it feels incredibly rewarding to share our expertise and techniques with others, giving them the keys to our studio, and the space to explore and expand their own craft, while staying true to our commitment to honest luxury.
self-portrait Residency aims to not only enrich and evolve our collections and redefine how we connect with and excite our customers, but I hope it will also provide a home for creativity to thrive and prosper.” - Han Chong, Founder and Creative Director of self-portrait.
